qliqr is built so that we know as little about you as possible. This page lists everything that leaves your Mac or your browser, and why.

The app
What stays on your Mac
- Every click and scroll event. They are used in the moment to play a sound and draw a ripple, and to update on-device stats.
- Your stats (click counts, per-app totals, streaks). They are stored in a local file and never transmitted.
- Your recordings and clips. They are ordinary files in the folder you choose.
- Your settings and any custom sounds you add.
What qliqr never does
- It never requests or receives keyboard events. It cannot log keystrokes.
- It never uploads clicks, cursor positions, app names, screenshots or recordings.
- It has no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
What the app sends to our server
- Trial start and licence activation. A machine hash: a SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware identifier combined with an app-specific salt. It lets us count a Mac against the trial and the two-Mac limit. It cannot be turned back into the identifier. With activation we also store the model name (for example “MacBook Air”) so you can recognise the Mac in the licence portal, and of course the licence key.
- Licence checks. Occasionally (about weekly, and only when online) the app re-validates its licence using the key and the machine hash.
- Update checks. The app fetches a public update feed. You can turn automatic checks off.
- Two anonymous counters. “First open” and “permission granted” are each reported once, with no identifier of any kind, so we can tell whether onboarding works. You can switch this off in Settings.
This website
- No cookies and no analytics scripts.
- Your sound and ripple choices on this site are saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
- The global click counter adds anonymous batches of clicks to a single running total. No per-visitor record is kept. To limit abuse we rate-limit requests using a short-lived, salted hash of the network address held in memory; it is never written to our database or logs.
- The playground's Record button records only the playground box, inside your browser. The clip never leaves your device.
Buying qliqr
Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email address, the payment status and the country used for tax; we never see your card number. We store your email with your licence key so we can send the key, send it again if you lose it, and handle refunds. Emails are delivered through Resend.
Update emails
If you sign up for release emails we store your address until you unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Retention and deletion
Licence records are kept for as long as the licence exists, so that it keeps working. Trial records contain only a machine hash and a date. To have your purchase email, licences or subscription deleted, write to [email protected]. Deleting a licence record deactivates the key.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way we will note it in the changelog and update the date above.
