What it sounds like
A long zip, teeth buzzing past. While you drag, the sound is a hard-edged buzz like a zipper pulled at constant speed, with a lower rasp under the bright teeth. It is more textured than the pencil and a little more insistent.
Good for
- Dragging selections and resizing things
- Playful demos where a drag should feel like it is doing something
- Pairing with the Zipper scroll tick
How it is made
Two sustained layers of white noise, looped: a narrow band centered at 3.5 kHz and a quieter one at 1.7 kHz, both gated by a hard pulse at 85 Hz so each tooth reads as a separate click.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
