What it sounds like
A hairline tick per notch, like winding a watch crown. It is extremely short and sits very high, so it reads as a texture under the finger more than a sound. Fast scrolling becomes a fine, dry sizzle.
Good for
- Precision scrolling in long documents and code
- Quiet rooms, since it carries almost no energy
- Pairing with the Snap clicks
How it is made
A three-millisecond burst of white noise high-passed above 7 kHz with a tiny 4.2 kHz sine underneath. Each notch is one of the shortest sounds in the library.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
