What it sounds like
A firm toothed click per notch, like a ratchet wrench worked slowly. Each tick has a distinct edge, and a fast scroll turns into a purposeful rattle. It makes the wheel feel like it has real teeth.
Good for
- Spreadsheets, timelines and anything where you count notches
- Keyboard-heavy workflows that want mechanical scrolling
- Pairing with the Gadget clicks
How it is made
A burst of white noise through a narrow bandpass at 2.6 kHz for the tooth and a triangle wave dipping from 1.5 to 1.1 kHz for the body of the click, each notch rendered in about 40 ms.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
