What it sounds like
A stepped dial with a faint second click per notch: a solid tick, then a tiny higher one nine milliseconds later as the detent settles. It feels like turning a chunky volume knob. Fast scrolling has a slight stutter to it.
Good for
- Audio and video apps with a dial feel
- Settings panels and slow, deliberate scrolling
- Pairing with the Desk Job clicks
How it is made
A burst of white noise at 1.7 kHz, a quiet 820 Hz sine with a little FM for the metal detent, and a second, brighter noise tick around 2.6 kHz that lands 9 ms after the first.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
