What it sounds like
A fresh twig breaking in two: a crisp crack on top and a slightly woody lower snap underneath, both gone in under a tenth of a second. It is bright without being glassy. Clicking with it feels clean and a little outdoorsy, as if something actually broke.
Good for
- Everyday browsing when you want a crisp but not clinical click
- Trackpads, where the lower crack adds a sense of travel
- Minimalist or nature-themed demos
How it is made
Two bursts of filtered white noise, one centered around 2.4 kHz for the crack and a quieter one around 900 Hz for the fibers, plus a short sine falling from 1.3 kHz to 700 Hz. There is no resonant body, which keeps it dry.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
