What it sounds like

A typewriter arm striking paper against the platen: a bright smack with a papery edge, a faint metallic ring from the bar, and a low thud from the frame. The release is a softer, lower clack as the arm falls back. It feels like it printed something.

Good for

  • Writing and long-form editing
  • Vintage-styled recordings and typing videos
  • People who want the mouse to sound as mechanical as their keyboard

How it is made

Two bursts of white noise, one at 3.2 kHz and a brighter one at 5 kHz arriving 4 ms later for the paper, a 2 kHz sine with light FM for the typebar, and a sine from 190 down to 120 Hz for the frame. A body at about 1.1 and 2.4 kHz is the machine.

Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
