What it sounds like
A chunky, hollow plastic click with a real sense of a case around it: the ball mouse from the computer lab, cord and all. The press has a low thunk and a boxy midrange, and the release is a smaller, brighter echo of it. It feels heavier under the finger than it has any right to.
Good for
- Beige-era nostalgia laid over a silent laptop
- Retro-styled screen recordings and tutorials
- Spreadsheets and long admin sessions where a chunky click keeps a rhythm
How it is made
A burst of white noise around 1.8 kHz and a sine that drops from 620 to 380 Hz, fed fairly hard into a three-mode body at roughly 950 Hz, 1.5 kHz and 2.3 kHz. That body is what makes it sound like plastic with air inside.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
