What it sounds like
An adding-machine key with a long throw: a deep, boxy clunk at the bottom of the travel and a faint spring ring after it. The press feels heavy and deliberate, and the release has its own smaller, higher clack. Of the office clicks it carries the most weight.
Good for
- Number entry, budgets and anything with a ten-key feel
- People who like a click with low-end travel
- Slow, deliberate work where every press should count
How it is made
A burst of white noise around 1.3 kHz, a low sine sliding from 240 down to 150 Hz for the clunk, and a quiet 2.1 kHz sine with FM at a 3.1 ratio for the spring. A body tuned low, at about 700 Hz and 1.15 kHz, gives it the case. Holding the button adds a longer spring ring.
Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
