Zapp

What it sounds like

A cartoon laser the size of a thumbnail. The press is a quick downward pew, the release a shorter upward wip, and together they feel like firing and reloading. It is buzzy, bright and entirely unserious.

Good for

• Game streams and arcade-style demos
• Shooting through a long to-do list
• Anyone who wants every click to feel like a tiny victory

How it is made

One sawtooth wave sweeping from 2.4 kHz down to 300 Hz over 70 ms, low-passed at 5 kHz so it buzzes without biting. The release sweeps a sawtooth from 300 Hz back up to 1.8 kHz.

Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
