What it sounds like

A small, papery flutter, like a moth bumping a lampshade. The press is a light, slightly dusty tap; the release is a double flicker, two tiny beats close together. It is quiet, airy and a little fidgety.

Good for

  • Quiet rooms where you want texture but not volume
  • Browsing and reading, where the flutter on release is pleasant
  • Headphone work late at night

How it is made

A burst of white noise centered at 1.1 kHz and a quiet sine dipping from 480 to 360 Hz. The release repeats its noise burst twice, 12 ms apart, which makes the flutter.

Every qliqr sound is synthesised from a small text recipe, so the version you hear here is the same one the Mac app plays, with natural variation so no two presses are identical.
